In this tutorial, we're going to move our menu module from a template position to a custom position within an article using the {loadposition} function.

How to Position a Joomla Module in an Article

Positioning a Joomla module in a custom position is a two step process. First, we must create an article and add the {loadposition} code. Second we edit the module and tell it to use that custom position.

Create the Article

  1. Create a New Article. (Here's the full tutorial on how to create a Joomla article.)
  2. Within the article, add the code {loadposition mycustomposition}.
Where you place this code is where the module will show up.
  3. Click Save and Close.

Position the Module

  1. From the top menu go to Extensions > Modules.
  2. Open the module you want to position.
Here we're going to position the menu module.
  3. Click the Position option and in the text entry box enter your custom position name - exactly what you entered in the article.
    In this case, mycustomposition.
  4. Hit enter on your keyboard.
Note: if you click outside the box without hitting enter, the text will disappear and a new position won't be assigned.
  5. Click Save and Close.
